Mid-Term Meta-Analysis Results of Carotid Artery Stenting and Carotid Endarterectomy Based on Randomized Controlled Studies

چکیده

Objective: A comprehensive of published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed to evaluate the mid-term safety carotid artery stenting (CAS) versus endarterectomy (CEA) for both asymptomatic and stenosis. Material Methods: In this research, trails from 1994 until December 31, 2021 using ScienceDirect, Pubmed, Web Science, Sage, Ebscohost, Scopus Cochrane Central electronic databases. Major end points (any stroke, myocardial infarction, all-cause mortality) were extracted publications. We calculated pooled risk ratios (RRs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) a fixed-effects model. The Q I2 statistic used as measure heterogeneity. Results: Twelve involving 8,301 (4,498 with CAS; 3,803 CEA) patients included in meta-analysis. When compared CAE, associated significantly increased any stroke (RR=1.397; CI: 1.159-1.684; p<0,001) but decreased infarction (RR=0,487; CIs: 0.302-0.786; p=0,003). No difference found allcause mortality (RR=1,009; 0.904-1.126; p=0,869) between 2 interventions, yet minor trend toward superiority favoring CEA. evidence significant heterogeneity analysis. Conclusion: CAE be superior term whereas CAS lower infarction. But robust results, further studies are needed address relative effectiveness future.

Clinical results of carotid artery stenting versus carotid endarterectomy

OBJECTIVE To review our results of carotid artery stenting (CAS) and carotid endarterectomy (CEA). METHODS We evaluated the medical records of patients undergoing carotid artery revascularization procedure, between 2001 and 2013 in Baskent University Hospital, Ankara, Turkey. Carotid artery stenting or CEA procedures were performed in patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis (>/=70%) or sy...

Long-term efficacy and safety of carotid artery stenting versus endarterectomy: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

BACKGROUND Many recent trials have investigated the long-term efficacy and safety of endarterectomy versus stenting in treating patients with carotid artery stenosis. We aimed to determine the long-term comparative efficacy and safety of both procedures by pooling this evidence in a meta-analysis. METHODS We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials for s...

Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials Comparing the Long-Term Outcomes of Carotid Artery Stenting Versus Endarterectomy.

BACKGROUND Stenting is an endovascular alternative to endarterectomy for the management of carotid stenosis, but its long-term safety and efficacy relative to endarterectomy remain unclear. Our objective was to compare the safety and efficacy of stenting with those of endarterectomy, with a particular focus on long-term outcomes, via meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). METHO...

Carotid artery stenting vs. endarterectomy.

Randomized clinical trials have demonstrated that carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is superior to medical management for stroke prevention in patients with symptomatic and, to a lesser degree, asymptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis. However, large-scale registries have shown that the adverse event rates following CEA are commonly higher than observed in the trials. In the last decade, caroti...
